Planning your child’s 12th birthday is somewhat bittersweet, because you know that it’s the last year before the teenage years. It’s the last year of silliness and innocence, and we’ve all heard that adolescence comes with a new set of challenges.
My son was adamant that he wanted a paintball party, but when we heard the age restriction, that it’s played outdoors and it is painful, we decided on the next best plan: “V-Ball”, which on the North Shore is played at the Laser Dome. The boys started off with a friendly hour of laser tag, followed by an hour for dinner and birthday cake. The final hour was V-Ball, which is played like Paint Ball but with Velcro, masks to protect their faces, vests, gloves and far less pain. The boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and were planning their next visit.
